2:20:16Fall Asleep to the ENTIRE Philosophy of Taoism | Theology for Sleep
A two hour and twenty minute walkthrough of the whole of Taoism, fifteen numbered parts, from the first line of the Tao Te Ching to what any of it asks of you on a Tuesday morning. The spine is one reversal: where most philosophies tell you what to do, this one shows you what not to do, and it argues that the not doing is the more sophisticated psychology of action. It builds that out through wu wei and ziran, the valley spirit, the infant, the power of water, Zhuangzi's useless tree and butterfly dream, government by non interference, de as the particular integrity of each thing, the pathless path of practice, the limits of language, the return to the source, internal alchemy and the three treasures, the empty space in a landscape painting, the daily and seasonal cycles, and the Taoist body. Every abstraction gets cashed out into something concrete: falling asleep, hitting a tennis ball, an argument you are losing, a child who will not become who you imagined, a death that is coming. It ends where it started, on your ordinary life seen without resistance.
